I am Running for a Reason! I am running for my little friend Holden. Help raise awareness and funds for Dup15q Alliance to support those children and families affected.

As I prepare to run my first half-marathon in Disney World this coming April, I found out I could dedicate those miles to one of my favorite little friends in the world.

Holden has a diagnoses of dup15q. To put it as simple as possible,this basically means he has a duplication of his 15th chromosome. This diagnosis presents with high risks for epilepsy, autism and intellectual disabilities.

Life is not easy for Holden but he is one of the most easy going, hardworking kids I am lucky enough to know. Things that come naturally to most kids require a lot of effort from this little boy. He works so hard everyday of his life and he does it with a smile on his face...and Holden smiles are the best.

When I found out about this opportunity I decided very quickly that if I'm going to run I might as well Run for a Reason. I am running to raise awareness and funds for Dup15q Alliance. Getting the word out about dup15q syndrome is a key piece of the Alliance's mission.Their fundraising mission is simple: encourage personal philanthropy that helps underwrite research, potential treatments, and a variety of support opportunities for affected children like Holden and his amazing, supportive family.
