I am excited to announce that I have signed up as a Charity Runner in the 2022 TSC NYC Marathon to support the Dup15q Alliance!

I know I said I'd never run a marathon. I meant it too, until I learned Dup15q Alliance was a charity partner for this year's NYC marathon. Dup15q Syndrome is extremely rare and characterized by a number of symptoms that may include, hypotonia, epilepsy, cognitive delay, motor delays, autism, and similar facial features.

I first became aware of Dup15q when I met our friends, Monica and Noah, years ago. Their youngest son, Dylan, is a Super Duper, having been born with the syndrome. For those of you who haven't had the good fortune of meeting Dylan - he gives the best hugs and has the happiest laugh. He loves Cookie Monster, swimming, and riding his bicycle. He gives our dog, Zoe, the softest pets whenever he sees her. Dylan is thriving, but it hasn't been easy for him or his family. There is no cure for Dup15q and, because it's so rare, it's often difficult for them to find the right medical and social resources. This is why organizations like Dup15q Alliance matter. Their mission is to provide family support and promote awareness, research, and targeted treatments for Dup15q Syndrome.

I will be taking on 26.219 miles of New York City streets on November 6th. Will I be setting any personal records? No, probably not. Will I potentially keel over somewhere along the route? Most likely yes. But it's going to be one heck of an experience.

Join me in supporting real change. Let’s support good in the world and make a difference.

Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for Dup15q Alliance.
